Note the imposing binocular-men in the distance. What plans do they have for this paradise?
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier

      • Why they're the evil secret government men in black helicopters, of course. You just can't be a deranged right wing loon without believing you're being followed every where by evil government agents in black helicopters.

          • I'm sorry to see her go because, as you said, she was great for the late night television pundits.

So in the last 24 hours we have Perry out, Bachmann out, and Gingrich essentially admitting he can't win & endorsing Santorum.

It's the only viable option left.

              • Rallying behind Santorum is a wee bit premature. He will wither under the spotlight just like all the rest. I just don't see him pulling it off. Especially since he has no money and no organization. He'll be lucky to be this year's Huckabee. Luckier yet if he walks away with a Fox News show. But he doesn't have half the charisma of Huckabee.

All the also-rans are dropping out, which means soon it'll be Romney, Santorum & Paul. With Gingrich perhaps sticking around to pummel Romney. I think Paul still has a shot in this. We know he isn't going to bow out, he'll fight on till the end. And since he has a high floor thanks to his solid base, he'll stay competitive until Santorum flames out. At which point a good segment of the anti-Romney crowd may very well hold their nose and vote for him.

                Hopefully.

It'll still probably be Romney though.

                • This is actually a pretty good result. The Republican base didn't turn out to be as completely retarded as the Republican politicians and right wing media thought they were and if I'm honest I have to admit as retarded as I thought they were. They did rally around the only candidate who stands a chance of beating Obama even if they only edged out the crazies by 8 votes. There was still a lot of crazies voting for Rick "outlaw anal lube & birth control" Santorum plus the Paultards are as tardish as ever but the guy who came out on top was the least crazy of the bunch (not counting Huntsman) and the most likely to actually win an election.

                    • I hear from an inside source that things could possibly still turn out ok for Paul in Iowa. Apparently after submitting your votes in the caucus, people are supposed to stick around to pick or be chosen as delegates. Only the Paul supporters knew that, so a lot of Romney and Santorum supporters went home. Again, I just heard it from a friend, who knows what the reality is, but it could be an interesting snag.

Also, I wonder how many states Santorum is even on the ballot on? We all heard that Gingrich failed to get enough signatures for ballot access in Virginia, but Santorum didn't even file. Are there other states where he didn't file? That's possible.

                      • Hell, the only guys to get on the ballot in Virginia were Romney and Paul. The other half dozen candidates all screwed that one up.

BTW Virginia must be doing something wrong if their intention isn't to limit access to the ballot for primary candidates. I mean it either has a too early deadline or requires way to many signitures or something because when virtually the entire field can't qualify in time then there is a problem.

                        • It was probably more like an idiot test. 'You can only enter the primary if you can write your own name on a peice of paper during this 6 month period'. This obviously ruled out 75% of the field.

That would be a resounding victory for bureaucracy over democracy, and if Paul's got the vaguest shred of rational decency left he'll be too embarrassed to pursue it.
