No all of us believe things that we have no proof of, like whether or not mommy and daddy love us. Only a ****** would not believe his mommy and daddy don't love him because he can't proof it. The poor sucker is going to go through life not knowing if ANYONE WILL love him.

But one of you atheists asked me if there is any evidence (not proof you moron) that God exists. As a christian I'm commanded by God to answer that question. So I did in a manner that is very typical for a christian to do. I knew that this is what most of you asshokles would do though. But that's fine.
You still haven't explained what this 'evidence' of yours is, other than you just saying 'I'M RIGHT!!!!!' repeatedly.

I never said it be true that God exists because people say that he does. I simply am trying to make the point that by simply denying the evidence you show yourself to be a complete moron. Most people accept it as evidence. So if you disagree that God exists you had better challenge the evidence or most people are simply going to regard you as an idiot and not listen to you.

BTW, you never answered me on this:
Originally posted by Elok View PostKid, suppose we had a poster on here named "Simon Legree," a devout Lutheran, say, who argued for the faith on the grounds that "its encouragement of meekness and charity has prevented the black people from doing bad things to our white women all these years, and is thus a clear social good." Would you:
1. Ignore Simon and let him have his say without contradicting him, because he appears to be a sincere Christian making a sincere effort to fight for the faith, or
2. Fight him tooth and nail, because arguing for Christianity with horrible arguments makes Christianity seem horrible? Note that he has not at any point said anything controversial about Christian doctrine, only used his daffy and offensive other beliefs to try to promote Christianity.
Important disclaimer: This is a deliberately extreme example. I am not alleging that you are a racist, or anything like a racist, nor am I endorsing racist beliefs myself, or anything else stupid like that.

You're such an arrogant snob who thinks God has given extra authority to and given supreme knowledge to. I don't think I've ever met a person like you. KH is quite normal in comparison. He doesn't even claim authority by God. I think if I were around you in public you would look down on all the people who didn't think and act like you.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

So, is that a "yes, I would contradict the racist proselytiser" or "no, I'd let him be?"

What you're talking about in this thread, Kid, is a problem in science, philosophy, and theology known as fine-tuning. There are peculiar quantities and constants about the universe that seem geared toward life, quantities and constants that do not appear to be dependent on the laws of physics as we know them.
Good examples include the fact that the universe is mostly matter and not half matter, half anti-matter; or the fact that the universe began in a low entropy state; or the shape of the universe (which arises from the initial conditions of the universe); or the mass of the electron; or the coupling constant of the strong nuclear force. These are good examples because, at present, there are no specific reasons why they have to be the way they are.
And yet there are answers to this question nonetheless that don't rely on God. It could be that there are many other universes out there, either outside our universe's light cone or somewhere else entirely, that have different fundamental constants where life could not arise. It could be that our universe is not optimally geared toward life and the life that does exist is, essentially, lucky. It could be that the many-worlds interpretation is correct, and the universe is simultaneously good and bad for life. And it could also be that we have simply yet to discover the laws that govern these seemingly arbitrary quantities and constants.
But your example - the fact that the sex ratio is maintained over long periods of time - is not a good argument for fine-tuning, because natural laws easily explain this phenomenon. Fischer's Principle and the Law of Large Numbers are all that is required. If you want to make the argument that the universe is fine-tuned for life, I suggest you really research this subject and study what others have said about it first. Alternatively, you can ignore the argument entirely and simply rely on your faith that God exists. But either way, arguing from the standpoint that the consistency of the sex ratio defies explanation is not going to get you anywhere.Click here if you're having trouble sleeping.
