I was going to say, this is almost certainly due to wait staff at restaurants. One of my good friends worked at Morton's for a long while and he said that about 60% of waiters there were shady characters.

The only thing shadier is a call center. But at least there, the employees are generally more stupid and will order stuff on-line and have it delivered to their homes. It was amazing how many we caught that way.

In the last 3 months I've eaten almost exclusively at restaurants.

I figure you visit a lot, but maybe you switch up what cards you use and you have had 3 occurrences.

I only use one card, so I know it wouldn't work for me.

The 3 occurrences are over 5 years. Also, I use this card almost exclusively.

Actually, considering he works 12+ hours a day and spends time getting to and from work (and his wife works too), I think that eating out can be quite reasonable.

It is true you can eat cheap and quite good reasonably, but this generally takes a bit of effort (~3 hours cooking once a week seems to be a good compromise to me), and he might want to spend his time doing other things.

I also ate out most meals for the last two years, and I don't make so much.

I plan to not do so next time, but this will be some effort on my part.

                      Oh, so no correlation.

Is 3 occurrences in 5 years when you use it so much unusual?

I haven't. Just reading about it now, seems like a pretty inefficient form of fraud considering you have to make capital investments into making realistic looking bogus cards.

You don't move to NYC so you can cook at home all the time.

Also, he doesn't have the time to cook at home. He's too busy making money.
