A different Wal-Mart also this morning but again it is young adult men who start fighting in the video games section. At least they spend most of their effort breaking apart the shelves instead of each other.

For some reasons this reminds me of the UK riots. A society that is full with ideals of possessions and material riches, when in reality people are living in conditions where they work several jobs to pay the bills, make ends meet. The US must be even worse than the UK, what with low healthcare and everything. Short jobs, low wages, definitely a growing discrepancy between rich and poor, and all in a framework of high consumerist expectations, high expectations of possessing stuff. Can't really blame these people, althought some behave like real d!ckheads individually.Comment

The funny thing is the woman who pepper sprayed a bunch of people just so she could run ahead and get to the door buster deals apparently got away with it as other eager shoppers rushed through the cloud of pepper spray even though store employees were trying to get them to stop. The unidentified woman then apparently did her shopping, checked out, and went home without ever getting caught!
In Los Angeles, a woman used pepper spray to gain a "competitive shopping" advantage at a Walmart, inflicting minor injuries on 20 people soon after the store opened on Thanksgiving night. No one was able to catch her before she apparently made her purchases and left the store. Based on numerous reports that the best deals are to be had on Black Friday and 12/31, I went car shopping today.
I can reliably report that there was nothing out there that I couldn't get tomorrow (or Monday when the stores are empty), and that there is plenty of bait & switch crap going on to get you into the dealership, despite the 'transparency' and 'knowledge' the Interwebs allegedly provides.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011
