    Do you honestly care?

It's almost as if deciding where to allocate resources is a complex affair...
Approximately 0.8% of the population? If one of the government's policy goals should be reducing the death rate then 0.1% seems pretty significant!

That does sound significant! Thank you for providing context.

You're told "44000 people die from a preventable condition" and your immediate response is "but I don't know how big 44000 is!" Would your response change if that were 440,000? Or 4,400,000? "Sorry, I still don't have enough context for the problem that I've never faced because my parents are loaded."

How much does health insurance cost you per month?

It costs me $300 per month, and my employer adds another $600. When I was a contractor it cost me $1100 per month. (My medication would have cost $1200 per month without insurance, so it was well worth it to have insurance for medication and for injury.)

Loin, you're being retarded. The numbers are meaningless without context, that's a mathematical fact that has nothing to do with how rich my parents are. It's unfortunate that you're so emotional about this that you get all weepy-eyed at numbers when you don't know what they really mean.

Also, 44000 is closer to .01% of the US population.

I've provided the context. You just don't give a **** because your parents are rich.

I think that's false, demonstrated by my posts in this thread, unless you're just selectively blind?

A WHOLE GRAND EVERY MONTH?! This better include every possible medical condition.

It does, and with a low deductible to boot. When I was a contractor I had a $5000 deductible, otherwise my premiums would have been much higher.

HC of course knows all about this.

To be clear: it's entirely possible for somebody to have empathy for a condition that he has not personally experienced. HC is not among these people.

It's not a lack of empathy, you idiotic person. This has nothing to do with whether I feel sorry for them or not. It has to do with whether the "statistic" Oerdin posted made any compelling case for single payer healthcare. Jesus ****ing christ on a bicycle, I really hope this is nothing but you trolling because you're being just willfully stupid here.
