    ****ty.

Federal law does appear to make an exception for hunting licenses. New York's hunting licenses require a 10 hour class. It looks like there's no easy way around it.

It's amazing how much bull**** you have to go through to start shooting as a non-citizen. I just had to fill out a single sheet form to get my first rifle. Nobody asked me if I knew what I was doing, or had any training, or anything like that.

I've never been hunting. I was about to go once, but when I found out that bug spray and smoking weed weren't allowed, I bailed.

The Federal Law is interesting. So if you are a non-resident alien, you have to have a hunting license in order to go to the range and rent a rifle and fire it at the range.

Edit: Looks like the cheapest Maryland hunting license is a regulated shooting area hunting license for $6. No education requirements catch-22.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

That shooting area license looks like it might work.
