No, I'm saying that you can disagree with her without resorting to denigrating and insulting her. It's called common decency.Originally posted by Docfeelgood View PostSo your saying to appease the "whining" victim, we should disregard the accuser of his due process?
Are you really calling 'newbie' because you joined in 99 and me in 02?Originally posted by Docfeelgood View PostBTW

This woman's feelings about an accused/convicted person making use of the legal protections available to him is not something that should be taken into account.
And yes, no matter how much sympathy one may feel for her and her husband, she is whining.(\__/)

All I'm saying is that this is a woman who has suffered a horrible traumatic event in her life, and the guy in question doesn't seem to be appealing his guilt, just the punishment. Under those circumstances I think it's extremely harsh and yes heartless to call her a whiner.Originally posted by notyoueither View PostAnd yes, no matter how much sympathy one may feel for her and her husband, she is whining.

Whether an accused is appealing his guilt or sentence is not relevant.
That you make the distinction in a disussion about the death penalty strikes me as a bit odd.(\__/)

It is when you're talking about the reactions of the relatives. There's a difference between someone shouting about a person who might be innocent, and when they're shouting because someone admits they're guilty but just wants a lower sentence. Neither should affect the courts decision, but one is a lot more understandable than the other.Originally posted by notyoueither View PostWhether an accused is appealing his guilt or sentence is not relevant.
We weren't talking about a death penalty case here though. Also I never said her opinion should have influence on the actual judgement.Originally posted by notyoueither View PostThat you make the distinction in a disussion about the death penalty strikes me as a bit odd.
