Those are the stupid ships, though, right? My understanding is that they're overpriced and undercrewed. I don't quite see the purpose of them. It'd be nice if we could exchange a large part of our destroyer fleet for corvettes without losing much capability, which sounds like the goal of LCS, but these things are outrageously overbudget. And it seems like the Navy's not going to end up cutting back elsewhere to build LCS ships--we're just going to have that many more ships.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

Wow, I haven't paid much attention to the USN since I retired. The LCS ship looks weird.

Interesting to see that the range is listed as 500 nanometers.
Do they by chance use french-canadian rocket launchers?

The LCS is a good idea, and it would have been better executed if the USN didn't insist on getting the 40kts speed out of them. The Danes have something similar with the Absalon class. Unfortunately the requirements began with "must make 40kts", and "must have very small crew", then it all went downhill from there. We now have a Yacht and a high speed Ferry.

Now, that isn't necessarily a horrible thing, but there's no reason why the base cost of such vessels(not counting the modules added) should be as expensive as they are. Well, besides the whole "sticking the main plant of the RN CVF into a 3,000 tone corvette" thing.

Talking about cost - I stumbled over this link - local politicians consider them pretty costly, but it looks like it could be worse (go to the bottom of the page).
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
