I love lamb shwarma but it's a pity the local kabob shop doesn't spice them up properly and instead serves them rather bland. Still, the alternative is to drive like 20 miles away (one way) so it's nice to at least have a local option when the mood strikes me even if it's not the best.

How do you expect your shwarma? Spicy hot?

      • Moderately spiced. The local place makes it rather bland which is a disappointment. If I go to El Cajun then there is good shwarma or if I drive to Orange County but the suburb I live in seems to be a bit too white for the good stuff, I guess.

Even their website is bland and forgettable. http://www.thekebabshop.com/

        • Dude, it's Lebanese food. It's not supposed to be spicy. Spices are used in Lebanese cooking but not peppery hot stuff. This is not Indian food.

          Such a frauding hipster.

          • Jesus Christ, how stupid can one get? I didn't say it needed to be super spicy, dumb ass, I said it needed to have SOME spice and not just be totally bland and unspiced. Why do you always have trouble following very simple sentences? I've gone to several where they do use a nice blend of spices to give the food flavor without being strong or over powering. The difference is this place seems to be cutting corners and using almost no spices at all resulting in a bland and flavorless product.

I swear you must have been dropped on the head as a child and that's why you are unable to follow simple concepts. No wonder no one wants to hire you.

            • Over 50 years of tradition & quality. “One of Los Angeles’s most revered restaurants. It is a legend. Zankou is the greatest chicken ever.”– New York Times

Zankou chicken is a restaurant chain which does an excellent job of keeping the food tasty and interesting without making the spices over powering. It's all about balance and using a little of this with a little of that with it all carefully chosen so as not to over power anything. They also use a long marinade time so the flavors really work their way into the meats marrying each other well. The other place, not so much, if they are using any spices at all they're sure not letting them marinade long enough because it turns out bland and flavorless. Of course, they're probably using inferior quality raw materials too because that's another way flavors in food end up getting washed out.

Yes! Not always, but sometimes that's the only thing I want on it.

Peanut butter + apple sauce is even better!

                      • How exactly does one "peanut butter"? Is it some stylish new dance?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
