  • Anyone willing to take a stab at the high school math exam, Russian style?

This is basically the Russian equivalent of SAT. You need to answer the first 12 questions to qualify as an educated human being, and really try to answer the remaining six if you want to major in something math-related. If you can correctly solve all 18 in 4 hours, you're a bloody genius.
Feel free to blame me for any translation mistakes.

4 hours seems like a lot of time for 18 questions.

I can't try it though. I have no recollection on how to do cos/sin/tan, logs, etc.

          2. 13 degrees in commie measurement
3-4. don't remember how to do this
          5. A
          6. 18 cmsquared
7-11. don't remember how to do this
          12. 30% solution
          13-18. don't remember

The arithmetic ones are a joke. I just don't know remember how to do all the geometry, trig, etc.

American tests have a lot of word problems in which the difficulty is in evaluating the problem and determining what to do to solve it. I notice our Soviet counterparts do not get tested on thinking in such an indirect manner.

Once again, the Russian system produces a bunch of (respectful) drones in contrast to the American system...

It's not the face diagonal, it's the space diagonal.
UPD: checked the answers, it IS the face diagonal. I expected this to be harder than it was.

I never liked it how communist countries select and classify people.

In Croatia you can solve none and still be president or premier
