We can't defund abortion without defunding reasonable reproductive services as well. If there were a pro-life equivalent PP would be dead in the water; it'd suck away funding at lightning speed, leaving the country's most important abortion provider SOL.
But no, the pro-life movement has to be largely run by zealots, which is why it's gained little traction for the past forty years.

2. The fact that so many of them are also opposed to contraception
3. Idiot stunts like terrorism that drive away sympathizers
4. The movement being symbiotically attached to the Christian Right makes it easily branded as a violation of religious freedom.
Among other things.

As a policy issue, my personal opinion is that we should a) make traveling to other states to get abortions illegal and then b) allow states to decide whether to make abortions legal, simply because it is a contentious moral issue. But personally I'd be delighted to see it banned everywhere. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

A) would be a PITA to enforce, if not impossible.

There is that pesky Constitution to deal with. The Priviledges and Immunities Clause to be more specific. You can't tell someone that they can't do the same thing in their state that state citizens can (unless it is an activity that is location specific - like voting). It'd be like denying someone from a dry county to drink in a wet county because they aren't from there.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
