Why is it so hard to be a part-time bank teller (or to get any job)?

There is no reason. The true statement is that pareto efficiency is not affected by wealth transfer except in cases where extremely inefficient redistribution schemes have been chosen.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

Ref. the money and value argument, the amount of money you earn is indicative of how useful you are to others as a means to their ends, but only insofar as their ends are such as whose means can be and are decided through monetary calculation. Earnings are not an indicator of 'absolute' values or ends, as such values and final ends are the basis of, but still beyond the scope of, monetary calculation.

You earn in more ways than in a monetary sense. I agree. These money-grubbers won't.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

I think there's definitely an issue of supply and demand and then the reputation to actually do what is your speciality. It's how I rake it in. But I still agree, although the money is nice, it's security and a nice roof over my head. I am not remotely extravagant otherwise and could manage on a fraction of the money I earn. Life is about having fun and the people and friendships, not pure, hard cash. However if you can get lots of cash without compromising the other things, then why not?Speaking of Erith:

To Whom It May Concern:
It has come to my attention that you may have recently received the attached resignation letter from one [name omitted in posted version], who has been bragging a great deal about it on an internet forum thread readable at http://apolyton.net/showthread.php/196002-Why-is-it-so-hard-to-be-a-part-time-bank-teller-(or-to-get-any-job), which is where this came to my attention.
I simply felt compelled to give you the consolation that many of us here take your side and appreciate all that you do. I and many here value your culinary skills and prompt customer service far more than anything Mr. [name omitted in posted version] can hope to accomplish in a third try at the Marines, where he no doubt would be shuffled to an inconsequential position. From all that I've read, you may rest assured that his impugning your hard work to satisfy your customers and support your families can be considered a compliment merely by virtue of it coming from him.
Again, thank you for all of your honorable service to our community.
