Its stereotypical catch 22 situation. Many people find themselves in this situation until they catch a break-- or make a break even if they have to move to get a career enhancing job

Albie just wants to work a job that pays a lot of money for little work so he can join the marines this summer and get killed in Afghanistan the next. It's a very well thought out plan.

In all honesty I would try to help albie if I wasn't sure that he was planning to quit whatever job he finds in order to try (and fail) to join the army again in 4 months...

I knew down deep you were a nice guy even if it's the thought that counts

I think Alby should be a chambermaid in NYC.

I have a excuse. I am overcome with carbon monoxide overdose at a coal-worshiping meeting.

I hope you don't need to know how to swim in order to be a bank teller, since you've been applying for these positions.

you really need to attribute quotes

You're overqualified to be a bank teller. Also, utilize LinkedIn, it's more powerful than all the job websites. Recruiters always look first on LinkedIn before going to things like careerbuilder or something. Also, giving up on getting into the Marines and facing reality would help too.

On a side note, there's a never ending supply of jobs for Java and .Net programmers. You could always do what I did and grab a degree in IT in 6 months and then focus on programming.

Isnt being a bank teller a cushy middle class job? I think you have to be at least an accountant to get a job like that.

But if you are going to the marines in a few months there is no point in getting an all right job, just do whatever you need to survive these last months

Why join the marines if you hate long hours? Being deployed in Afghanistan sounds like a full time thing.
