      Alberta makes money in royalties based off of the percentage of the price. If the prices goes up due to transportation cost, so does our cut.
      If the people who pick it up have higher costs, they will try to pass those costs on to consumers (by charging more for the oil) and producers (by paying them less for the oil). I don't see them deciding to give the oil producers more for their oil.

        It depends who you mean by producers.

        The production companies won't get more. The countries/provinces who get the royalties get more.

                  The educated world has had the economics of exhaustible resources figured out since 1931. It's too bad that Asher isn't smart at anything non-computer-related. Even in hockey, his alleged specialty, he has to cheat to win the fantasy league.

                      How does somebody cheat in fantasy hockey? Do they pay the other guy's players to throw their games or something? Do they hack into another owner's account and trade all of their players?

                          Let's man up and use more precise terms.

                          It's liquid in the sense if you give 10 years and many billions of dollars, you can slush around oil anywhere in the world. That's true. Congratulations, you're right. It's a liquid commodity.

                          Now back in the real world, China wants to triple their intake of oil overnight. Can't happen.
                          US would need to replace their intake of oil by millions of barrels per day in the short term. Can't happen.

                              Pipelines don't get created because the free market says it should.

                              Tankers don't multiply on the whim of economists.

                              I don't think any of you appreciate how much the oil market is limited by logistics and politics. It's why your naive free market claptrap is amusing.
