For it to be pronounced like that it should have been "Robbert"

Robert in English is pronounced like robber with a t on the end. I think some specific English accents do say it with the o in go as you do, though.

What do you know about English?

          English is weird language then.
In "robber" the word needs two "b's" to be pronounced like that, while it "Robert" it suddenly only needs one.
The dutch pronunciation is the most consistent one.

In Dutch you'd spell it Roobot.

                  Actually, it's not:

as a matter of fact "robot" is a word we use in dutch. And it's not spelled like "roobot" either.

'You' (the second person singular/plural) receives the plural conjugation of the past tense. 'I' (first person singular) does not.

                          That's simply not true.
I have known Robberts, and they pronounced the "rob" part of the name with an "o" as in "got".
And all Roberts I know ( and I know plenty of them, we're a plague) all pronounce their name as in "go".

The "o" in Robert is the same "o" as in got! So they pronounce Robbert correctly but spell it wrong and Robert incorrectly but spell it right!

For the record, that article clearly says that "Robert" is from germanic origins, so who would know better how to pronounce it? A dutch (germanic) person or some clueless yank? (as in "bank")
