Oh and in American English, Robert and Robot are not pronounced alike.
In American English, Rob- sounds just like the word rob (to steal from someone) and rhymes with Bob, lob, etc. We say the 'b' in the first syllable of the name.
We then repeat the b for the bert (so Robert is pronounced like a combination of two nicknames, Bob and Bert). Bert rhymes pretty closely with hurt."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

To be clear to Plomp, MikeH is referring to the FIRST 'o' in robot is the same as the 'o'.
Didn't got that. Seriously, without your explanation I would not have gotten that. Seriously thanks.
