You're a Canadian so I don't imagine you've ever seen Marine recruiting commercials. This was the main one a few years back:



There was a lot of controversy around this ad and accusations that it was racist because well, Black people can't swim... but as I pointed out, the majority can't. Just a fact.

But the ad highlights that you don't actually need to know how to swim to join up.

Then go swim in a pool, you sissy.

Those pools are for kids and their parents. I can't just go to one as a 25 year old man.

it's not a ****ing excuse. it's a fact that I don't know how to swim. who the **** cares why/ i dont know how to. i'm not from the ****ing moon because i cant swim. shut the **** up about it.

when i was in that physical therapy **** after my fractures, after doing all my squat jumps and crap in the water, i would get done early and try to teach myself to swim.

ill take a swimming class sometime at temple but that's an impossibility right now with my ****ing work schedule

Back to trucks for a moment-- I had a line on an 07 Tundra and could have pulled the trigger last night but decided to sleep on it-- Mrs Flubber, who had listened and agreed with all my plans for a used truck is now advocating that I get a NEW ONE instead and that she would continue in her current vehicle longer. She is making an impassioned argument based on safety, warranty etc etc etc.

I have the money (although at 0.9% financing maybe I should pay it off ) so I think I should allow myself to be "reluctantly convinced". She is talking ME out of getting her the vehicle (next year) that she most wanted--

Yes, a no brainer. It reminds me about when I took the wife to buy a new HD TV. I was looking and comparing all the 50 in. models when my wife came over and told me that the best picture she saw was on a 55 in set and suggested we get the bigger model. HMMMMM. That one didn't require much thought. AND yes, still married after 25 years.
