Being Catholic would do it. edit: well not if the King is the head of state I guess.

What does it matter? The long royal tradition is that they'll be divorced shortly after she pops out a few rug rats anyway.

Behead her if she doesn't pop out boys.

BTW picture on the right makes her look like Lindsey Lohan.

I'd put that picture on our money.

Bleh. Democracy is overrated. A real modern monarchy with that would conceive royal heirs in vitro (selecting away the ones that got shafted by inbreeding and the low IQ tail) would in my opinion outperform a democracy.

So the monarchy stops catholics, but does it stop Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Lutherns, or Jehovah's Witnesses etc...?

no. there is no legal bar on anyone of any religion becoming the king or queen of england. except roman catholics.

well yes, it is. however, if you look at the history it's understandable.

Yeah I know that this all stems from the protestant cartholic wars/rebellions etc... However I still find it odd that we prefer sultans over the pope.

A few centuries ago they never considered the possibility... Chatolics however where a oppressed militant minority with support from abroad and some sympathizers among the countries elite. I mean didn't the Pope rule that a Catholic killing Elizabeth wouldn't really be committing a sin (Popes used to have balls like Muslims in those days)?

A Muslim or Hindu king was unimaginable because there where none of them in England and they assumed they would never be. Groups like the Lutherans where too small ... and a Jewish King? Well who would tolerate a Jewish king?
