I like Tyrion... but everyone else's pure love for him makes me pull away a bit. I think he wouldn't be my favorite anyways.

I liked Ned, Jon, and Arya... and later Jaime. Oh, and Brenne.

I just got to the the first Jaime chapter and I like him-- I wonder if later there might be a Cersei chaptere of a Varys chapter so I could understand them more LOL--- I also hope to see Asha come into things more -- and of course Brenne could be someone the tv folks could have a lot of fun with

I believe, as others have pointed out, it is fantasy . Some fantastical elements will make their way into the story. I don't necessarily see it as a cop out, if the author can kill that person another way just as easily.

Sinc e ghostly apparitions killed some folks in the very first chapter of the first book, I did understand its fantasy, But other than that the fantasy element was very underplayed in book one-- There was talk of white walkers and dragons and the like but there was relatively little of it.

In book two and so far partway into 3 there is much more of a fantasy element-- more focus on dreams and seeing through the views of animals etc etc. Its ok although I find that some of the I'm an animal bits drag on a bit

Just finished watching this. I have to say that my favorite characters were the White Walkers. I'm just patiently waiting for winter to come so that they can march down to King's Landing reanimate everyone they've killed just to tell them, "**** politics!"

I have no plans to read the books, because I have no desire to sit on a six year cliffhanger.

Laz makes some good points with the horse people. This is brought up to ludicrousness when they meet the goat people. I'm hoping that eventually they'll travel farther south to meet the kangeroo people, "May you bounce over your enemies." Also, it took me awhile for me to notice that the horse leader was sick. At first I just thought he was going meta.
