I could kind of sort of see that though I was talking about how Stannis was being shown going to Braavos in the last episode when in the books he didn't and instead got help from the Iron Bank in the next book. I think it's pretty fair to talk about how they moved events around in the last episode and changed things from the books especially when the event in question was already shown on the TV series (albeit in a heavily modified way).

It was just a terrible scene.
While the scene was stupid, she did say that she was going to sail all the way to the Shivering Sea, and up whatever river the Dreadfort is on (name escapes me).

      • Also, as to "saying someone is still alive in book five is a spoiler," well, sure, a year or two ago. The show is adapting book five storylines already, so it isn't much of a spoiler at this point.

        • I can think of one character for whom being alive at the beginning of book 5 is a MASSIVE spoiler.

          Spoiler:
          well sort of alive anyway

          • Well, yeah, that.

Otherwise though, presumably the people who only watch the show don't really know where in the books this storyline or that storyline come from, so I don't think that is a huge deal.

That provides a fig lead, I suppose, though I do recall when Cersei ordered the flag ship of the royal fleet "King Robert's Hammer" to protect High Garden (or was it Old Town?) someone commented it would take almost half a year to sail all the way there. That journey is only half as far as sailing from the Iron Islands all the way up to the Dreadfort. The time line just doesn't work though I understand why the TV show writers felt the need to show how low Theon had sunk and maybe to give the actress playing his sister a little air time.

              • I don't recall Asha actually appearing at all whatsoever in book 3, and they clearly didn't have time for her book 4 story.

                • I think the book 4 story is still coming, at least part of it.

                  Spoiler:
Balon is gonna have to die (I think it'll be this week, actually), and we're going to have to meet Victarion and/or Euron, at least; it is possible they will merge those two characters.

Nah, they're not going to introduce important characters this late in the sesaon especially with there being no indication that they've been cast, if we have the Greyjoy uncles at all they'll be introduced at the start of next season.

                    • I agree with the second part; I didn't mean to imply we'd get that story this season. Just that one thing. I think that's what Mel & Selyse will see when they stare into the flames, as shown on the preview.
