Writers need to do what they are told. Once you commit to being a writer, you are a slave to your audience. The most absurd part is when writers expect to be compensated for their writing. They are just sitting down and pushing buttons. They deserve as much pay as Homer Simpson.

If you go and dig up some of his old speeches from his website you can see even way back 30 years ago that he got way into fandom stuff and attended a huge amount of cons, read stacks of fanzines, etc. I`m sure he`s spent hundreds of hours lurking on fan forums ovrr the years. He was also always a slow writer. During his first career before Armageddon Rag killed it he wrote way less words per year than these days, it just looked like more since it was mostly short stories. He seems to like being a writer more than actually writing **** and but he does have talent an does spend a lot of time revising stuff.

He might out live the older one here, but not the younger ones.

So they'll probably be released soon then. Unless he starts taking better care of himself anyway.

The books would really sell, and he could spend a year or two dead for tax purposes.

GRRM is blaming excessive travel and media interviews for the slow pace of progress writing the winds of winter. He also says he's tired of interviewers asking the same questions over and over.

I think it's all of them. Hempstead-Wright said in an interview that "they" (as in them and not him) are shooting all over. I assumed we'd be getting

from him. I'm a little disappointed we won't be.

The annoying thing is that's what they should have done with Asha Yara Greyjoy.

    edit: quote in question

Collider: Isaac, are you excited for what is coming up on Game of Thrones?
HEMPSTEAD-WRIGHT: Yeah. There’s certainly some more action stuff, rather than sitting down in various forests, all over Westeros.
Collider: When do you start shooting the new season?
HEMPSTEAD-WRIGHT: They’re actually filming, at the moment.

That is good, because he is right that they've outpaced things in the Bran storyline because they jumped to close to the end of Book 5 at the end of the season.
