To answer RAH's question, here's the detail on revenues and expenses for 2009 and 2010 from their IRS Form 990...

    You be the judge.
If you actually look at the goal of this non-profit you'll see that it is to provide education through public service announcements about the problems of teen pregnancy. With that in mind, Bristol Palin might be a reasonable spokesman.

Actually I have no problem with her preaching the positives about abstinence. One that has failed at something is often the most believable source. At least she is upfront with her shortcomings in that area, unlike a lot of stuck in the closet REPUG gay bashers.

If the goal of the organization is to promote the issue, she has been quite successful in that realm and has earned her money.

And again, despite all that, there is still a stench in the air.

Really? Working with teenagers every day, I can tell you that most kids, if made aware of this at all, would see a kid who got knocked-up, dropped out of school, and then gets paid crazy amounts of money for speaking fees and whatnot. She is the complete antithesis of the typical pregnant teen experience; she would not be a reasonable spokesman for any worthwhile cause at all. She is, however, a reasonable example of several things desperately wrong with society.

I know you're worried about the SEC winning again (BAMA hasnt won for a while) but take a breath and read what I wrote, "mightbe a reasonable spokesman". I dont give a rats ass one way or another I just despise Oerdins knee-jerk bull****.

Who would you want preaching to teenagers to not drink booze?

A person that had never had a drink,
or an alcoholic that has fallen off the wagon a few times.

Let's take this a step further.

An alcoholic that has lost everything or an alcoholic who makes more than the majority of Americans because of their alcoholism and parental connections?

As long as kids are willing to listen, I don't care. And as much as I'm not a fan of her's , there are a lot of teenagers that at least listen to her. (they still have sex, but then again, they're teenagers.)

It's pretty clear that Bristol Palin is out there to cash in on mommy's name. And I don't begrudge her that; how else is a HS dropout and single parent going to make a living? (Not that she needs to; she lives at home.) No doubt she is good for fundraising in this organization, and I'm sure it helps parents and donors feel good about their kids. But anyone believing that teens will listen to Bristol Palin as a role model and actually do as she preaches is seriously deluded.

I think you're letting your hatred get in the way here. I think you're the deluded one if you believe that no one looks up to her and actually does as she preaches. ( I will however admit that it's fewer than she thinks)

Think of all the screwed up sports stars. No matter how screwed up they are, there is a legion of kids that thinks of them as heroes.

She doesn't even do as she preaches.

                          I'm doing a nearly-180 here.

Looking at the foundation's website, I think they are pretty legit and do a good job of promoting a positive message, favoring both abstinence and contraception as means of preventing teen pregnancy. Which is shockingly reasonable. The other thing that becomes more clear here is that the whole "Palin gets 7x more than aid recipients" is a bit of a smear job, since giving cash to other stop-teen-preggers organizations is not part of the organization's mission.

Still, considering all the other celebs that are participating and knowing the foundation's total income, Bristol's compensation is a little off the charts for doing a couple PSAs, a couple town halls, being interviewed by media and appearng in print ads. Nice work if you can get it.

FYI, I have no hatred of Bristol Palin. She didn't ask to be shoved into the spotlight.

A great word I heard the other day for the first time was chesticles. A much classier way to say tits.

When she was doing DWTS, they did do a lot of coverage of all the events she was speaking at, and how much publicity that charity was getting. I felt like she deserved some credit for all the effort she was putting out. I'm still wouldn't consider myself a fan though.

I have been inspired by Bristol Palin's sacrifice. So much so that I vow to never be a pregnant teen! Five star charity!
