Go ahead, explain why Christians care about the Ten Commandments so much. That's all I'm asking. I've noticed Christians do eat pork so clearly they don't feel obligated to do something just because God wanted Israelites to do it. The Ten Commandments were given to... the Israelites. So they're irrelevant to 99% of Christians.

What do you think is the basis for most, if not all, of our existing laws?

You've yet to give an intelligent reason why they shouldn't.

IMO, not the Bible. But if you want to go with what the Bible says, Genesis 9 appears to apply to all humans...

Does there need to be a reason why they shouldn't care about it? If Christians care about it for no reason at all, just say so.

They don't. They just care about making sure they're on every government building even though they aren't actually interested in following said commandments in their personal lives.

Gribbler, a short serious answer that relates to what you were not understanding before.

The Bible was not written by God.

                            Except for the Ten Commandments.

Because jesus said he wasn't there to overhtrow the covenant, but to complete it. He also pretty explicitly said you have to follow the Law and the Prophets. Then Paul "Had a Vision" that tossed a lot of those rules out so they could convince people other than Jews to convert.

I thought the book of covenants was also supposed stuff god said/gave to Moses in the Sinai. Though it doesn't appear in the bible until some later book so I find it suspect as to authentisity but then again you can say that about most of the book.
