Aren't they part of the covenant that the Israelites are said to have made with God? Why do Christians think it's important for them to follow it?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Gribbler, why are you so stupid? You don't agree with their religion. Just leave it at that, please, and stop posting these boring troll threads.
And look, so the government building has a copy of the ten commandments. That doesn't mean we are about to start hanging the gays. It doesn't even mean that the court (if the building is a court) uses them in their jurisprudence. Yes, there's the establishment clause, but there is also this concept of no one gives a **** but pedants and complainers. If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

You see this symbol a lot, as well, in a legal context:
Does that mean we are worshiping the Greek gods because that's the Greek goddess Dike? Are we relying on ancient Greek laws in our courts?
Honestly, most people don't even know the commandments. You ask an average person what's the first commandment and they'll wrongly say "Thou shall not murder""Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi
"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi
