  • lol moment of the day:

“Our concern is simply that the rules for advance polling – that all of the rules of the election – be respected,” he told reporters. “That is our sole concern.”

I didn't see the video but I presume he said it with a straight face.

"In and Out" scheme Mr. Harper, you ****ing hypocrite.

Oh, and the thing he's complaining about?

Elections Canada has declared that disputed votes in a special ballot at the University of Guelph were cast legitimately.

In a statement, the electoral body said: “All information at our disposal indicates that the votes were cast in a manner that respects the Elections Canada Act and are valid.”

Unlike of course, Conservative ad buys.

    • They claim that their scrutineer was not allowed. They claim that political material was in the polling area.

These are pretty serious violations of election rules.

      • Take it up with Elections Canada. I trust them far more than Harper.

        • I guarantee you if these were 700 advance votes cast at the Lethbridge Legion, Harper wouldn't be saying boo.

He knows these are not votes for him.

              • Elections Canada is one of the few government institutions not yet jackbooted by this government. Their ruling carries far more weight than Conservative allegations and spin. Sorry.

                • Would it or would it not be problematic if polls were conducted with party scrutineers not allowed to be there?

I'm doubting this is settled, at any rate. If the riding is close the issue will be argued in front of a judge most likely.

                  • The riding won't be close.

This was the alternative May was looking at running in.

I wouldn't be comforted by that were I a Conservative. This party doesn't fare well in front of courts.

                      • I am surprised by the lack of wooing in my riding. Thus far my election material has consisted of a flyer from the PC's (not to be confused with the Conservatives) and a call from the NDP campaign. Nothing from either Liberals or Conservatives as of yet.
