Let the Treasury Department set the tax rates and I think that might happen

They are the taxation experts, after all

Nope, they cannot be used for that, at least not easily. The RAF doesn't have the tanker ability, and the tyranny of distance limits the liter time over Libya. I reiterate my previous statement about the civilians not really understanding what they are doing when they override the service chiefs recommendations.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

geeez, that's a great idea. i'm amazed no one has come up with this before.

maybe we should present these ideas to our respective governments. i wonder how much they'll pay us...oh of course, it'll be up to us...we're the experts!

          • Just for you Cockney:

You need a carrier and/or a lot more tanker support than what the RAF currently possesses if your PM wants to intervene overseas. Whoops! Guess he shouldn't have overrode the head of the RN and decomissioned your only fixed wing naval aviation!

            • France has an aircraft carrier, though. So does spain, if they care. Why aren't they doing anything?

that criticism would be valid if we were talking about britain policing a no fly zone on its own. since on one is talking about that, it doesn't really stand up.

This is exactly what lonestar is talking about. When the Europeans say "Let's have a mulinational no-fly zone", what they really mean is "America, please do the heavy lifting because we are too poor to pay for our own Navy."

And then they complain about us being the world's policemen.

Because they don't want to be the pointy end on anything that places most of the burden on their shoulders. France could do it all on her own.

Nope, you're right. You guys are asking us to police your backyard because you don't have the political will to do so yourselves. You(the EU) COULD do an intervention on your own, but instead you chose to wait awhile hoping that we would loan out the Enterprise to do most of the grunt work. Now we're going to see a slaughter that'll have death tolls around that of the Japanese earthquake in the next month or so because, again, the EU cannot police their own ****ing backyard without us holding their hand.

Ain't our problem. For someone *****ing about the US spending excessive amounts of cash on the DoD, you sure are quick on volunteering us to be principal constable when the largest economic zone in the world(the EU) is right there.

We aren't either of those things. Where have you seen me making that claim?

Are you retarded? I was asking a rhetorical question.

Hey, that's a good point. Isn't there this whole EU thing? Europe could band together and pool their military forces...sounds familiar. Wonder where I've seen that before?

Oh yeah, we call that the national guard. Except now it's mainly federally funded. But whatever.

By the way lonestar, would you agree or disagree with my whole slash the army, slightly buff the national guard plan?
