Right, but if it was true that they were pumping seawater in and directly out after direct contact with fuel rods, wouldn't we consider the containment breached? This is an honest question....

If you didn't pretend to know things you don't then we wouldn't have had this conversation, you hillbilly.

It is. Do you think they just flooded the core and are now cooling it with the regular cooling system?

The most likely situation seems to be that they've flooded it with boronated seawater, and are running regular seawater as an external coolant, no?

                      • Radiation consists of several types of subatomic particles, principally those called gamma rays, neutrons, electrons, and alpha particles, that shoot through space at very high speeds, something like 100,000 miles per second. They can easily penetrate deep inside the human body, damaging some of the biological cells of which the body is composed. This damage can cause a fatal cancer to develop, or if it occurs in reproductive cells, it can cause genetic defects in later generations of offspring. When one of these particles or rays goes crashing through some material, it collides violently with atoms or molecules along the way. . . . In the delicately balanced economy of the cell, this sudden disruption can be disastrous. The individual cell may die; it may recover. But if it does recover, after the passage of weeks, months or years, it may begin to proliferate wildly in the uncontrolled growth we call cancer.

                        • I don't know why you would pump and dump the material you're using as a damper...

As I indicated earlier contaient is the term for third line of defense and typically is the design basis structure that with stands external missiles and the like. It is a true statement contaient was breached(exploded as it were) due to a hydrogen detonation. The exceedingly good news is that the reactor remains intact and continues to contain the presumably melted fuel (almost a certainty given hydrogen generation and presence of cesium). Reactor containing melted fuel not to be confused with containment building structure.

Depending on the condition of their RHR heat exchangers yes.
