The assesment now is that the incident is less severe then Harrisburg. But it could well be far less severe or more severe. Nobody knows. And more and more reactors are showing problems.
Then there is the fact that the thing blew up. That didn't happen in Harrisburg. So the assessment it's a lower event is premature. They are cooling it with seawater. Where is that going? Out in the sea supposedly.

If things stay as they are I agree that probably the healthrisks/effects are minimal. For which I hope and keep my fingers crossed.

From what I understand they need the seawater to keep the core covered. This means direct contact with radioactive material. I assume they pomp the same seawater around as apparently the normal cooling system isn't functioning. So they probably just circulate seawater in and out.
