Billy Goat, Billy Goat, Billy Goat gruff. Damn, that must have made a hell of a mess but on the upside one of the Mexican supermarkets will probably have a special on goat meat tomorrow.

For the record, I like Mexican goat meat soup and think it makes a great Saturday morning breakfast.

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating how a herd of goats found their way onto Interstate 5 Saturday night, triggering car accidents and leaving dozens of animals dead.

Edit: Man, if you figure $200 per goat (and that's a low end estimate) then since there was a herd of 200+ of them that means that rancher had at least $40,000 worth of live stock running around on the freeway.

That's nothing compared to a proper Indian goat curry.

Calgary does have the Calgary stampede. A agricultural fair and rodeo which seems quite famous. I hear that it is quite a show.

NASA just published this satellite image and you can really see the geography here. You have the green coastal plain and foothills, the snow covered mountains, and then the desert east of the mountains in the rain shadow of the mountain.

You can really see the radioactive sands of the beaches in that pic.

Hmm, nothing like fresh caught pismo clams right out of the ocean.

Or maybe you fancy some fresh local spot prawns?

Personally, abalone have always been a favorite for me.

Hmm, nothing like freshly caught lobster. I think she got a big one.

I like to fish so having giant tuna close to shore is a plus. Come and get all the tuna you can eat.

Have you ever even seen a condor, dude? Sure, they're not man eaters (unless the man was already dead or very dumb) but a bird with a 9ft wing span is pretty god damned big. A coworker of mine from Pittsburg (but who know lives in San Diego) told me he went to Border Fields State Park (in San Diego right on the US-Mexico Border) and he saw one. He said he initially thought it was an airplane way far off because it was so big, much bigger then any bird he ever saw, then he slowly realized it was a bird with a 9ft wing span that was just soaring around on the thermal currents. Those things are huge with razor sharp beaks designed to cut apart flesh and I hear they get rather territorial when they find a juicy carcass to feed on.

One of my favorite local big animal experiences is with gray whales right off the coast during their annual migration.

                            They're big.

But they are gentle and will let you get quite close to them and even pet them.

Just watch out for the whale penises because they're huge and they pop up when you least expect them. In fact, they almost look prehensile.

Do you want to know what awkward is? Awkward is taking your eight year old niece out on a whale watching trip so she can see a whale, having her get excited because the whale pulls up right to the boat, because she's so small she can't reach over the rail so you hold her so she can pet the whale... Yes, she has a great time and is ecstatic about getting to pet the whale but then the whale rolls over and shows his giant whale penis. Awkward is: "Uncle John, what is that?!" Me: "Uhh, the whale is just happy." Her: "It's happy?" Me "Yes, he is a happy whale and he was so happy to see us he's showing us how happy he is."

Damn kids leave me at a lose to words not knowing how to explain crap to them.
