my experience in the UK and brasil would suggest that it's mostly white people doing the classical stuff, it may be different in north america, i don't know enough to say.

i heard a cool program recently about classical music in sri lanka and there are some famous asian classical musicians. however, i think dominate is far too strong a word.

I was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania but it didn't look like scholarship money or financial aid was forth-coming that summer after high school so I said **** it and accepted at Temple which wasn't giving me jack at first either but had much cheaper tuition.

Apparently that's how things work. They don't finalize the scholarships til you accept. I didn't know that.

I also got independent standing so I ended up getting almost a free ride at Temple so it's all good. Probably should have been more willing to go into debt by attending UPenn (and who knows what sort of ride they would have given me had I accepted).

Might be the biggest regret of my life. I hope to make up for it in grad school after the military.

Nonsense! Wait until after your next attempt at the marines. When is that, btw?

If I can get in for the 6 week course this summer (there is one starting in late May and one starting in July), it will be a cakewalk. I've done 7 weeks twice. The issue is going to be if they dick me and force me to do 10 weeks. My body doesn't have a good track record for lasting past 7 weeks and even now when I run, I have shin splints. The volume of running over 10 weeks is going to wear on my tibiae. I would know this time not to say anything. I made the mistake of asking the Corpsman about it hoping to get some Motrin and told a good stretch for it or something. Then he took me in to radiology.

I have biomechanical inefficiencies I am working on. I have shortened hamstrings and not the greatest hip flexors. My running form also needs some work. These things take time but I need to be ready ASAP. Need a good 3 mile time for May by the end of March and for July by the start of May.

In a perfect world, I could do the running drills and work on the form slowly over several weeks while also doing an aggressive passive and dynamic stretching and mobility program then start running with slowly increasing weekly mileage.

No offense, but you don't sound fit enough for the marines, even if you somehow pass the training.

I run a high first class PFT even with my ****ty run times. My best was a 279.

And put me in boots and a rifle and have me do fireman's carries or hump with a pack and I'm a beast.

It's the raw running mileage that, combined with my running inefficiencies, leads to excessive stress on my shins.

What's your lap time on an ice rink?

When the US Marine Corps starts fighting wars at ice rinks, I'll worry about that.

How fast can you do a mile in snow shoes?

The most recent PFT I took was actually on an icy course, funnily enough. I've had some experience running in snow a few weeks ago when we got plenty of it here. No snow shoes though.

All the more reason Canada will have the upper hand once we deploy our disruptive weather technology and invade. You'll be like the Germans trying to invade Russia in WW2... All these ***** Americans like Alby shivering when it's -5C and falling on their ass on the ice.

How fast can you scale a 100 foot ice wall?
