The day part of the Internet died: Egypt goes dark
Anyway, any news? It's not getting much coverage over here.
Not really. The White House gave a statement. They are hedging their bets now.
Nothing much out of Egypt. Fires burning, people on streets, army present but not doing much.

When I was in Jordan (that was when Hussein was king, so quite some years ago) people seemed not that unhappy under a monarchy, and overall the country seemed relatively moderate, even a bit westernized. That doesn't mean it's all nice and well there, but AFAIK the rulers there are rather moderate and seen as legitimate by quite a lot, so it seems not really comparable to the Ben Ali kind or the situation in Lybia or Syria etc.. At least that's my impression, could be wrong of course.
The curfew ends in 7 hours. It will be interesting to see what daybreak brings.
It's only 4pm here so I will get tomorrow's news before I go to bed.

It would really be nice if they could move things forward a bit in the Arab world, and not just change one corrupt elite for another. Mhmm, one can always hope....
The corrupt elite has to go before anything better can be possible.
Al Jazeera has a source saying some Egyptian elites are currently getting out.* No news on Mubarak.
* I don't know if this is true and am not taking a position. Just pointing out what is being reported.

9pm GMT: Robert Gibbs's White House briefing has wrapped up after an hour.
The most noteworthy points to come out:
• Gibbs pointedly refused to take up an offer to say the administration stood by Mubarak
• Gibbs also repeated that the "people of Egypt" would decide events – suggesting that the White House has cut the Mubarak regime loose, calling their grievances "legitimate"
• The White House confirmed that it was prepared to withhold aid from Egypt's government
But the tone of the administration suggests the White House has been left stranded by the swift pace of events on the ground.

Dude, have you seen what their current queen looks like? I just might obey her orders, and I'm American! [/irrelevant]

For those who don't know. This is the Queen Rania of Jordan:
She's not Jordanian, actually. She's a Palestinian, or as HC refers to them, a goat-****er.

Really? Why? Wiki just mentions a crap-ton of involvement in charities.
She's Palestinian... Palestinian is a bad word in Jordan. Not as bad a word as it is in HC's house, though, apparently.

Hot chick, loves charity...she's like Angelina Jolie without the crazy! Or the two billion adopted orphans. I imagine her boobs are real, too. And she's not an actress. Okay, she's nothing like Angelina Jolie. But she's a really nice hottie!
I suppose you could say the same thing about Syria.
You ever see Mrs. al-Assad?
