    Further info:

We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article.

Birthers are even more nutty than I thought. And I thought they were absolutely off their heads insane to start with.

It's great tactics on their part not to release it. It's blood in the water for the birthers, and just makes them look more rabid. Even Trump has joined the crowd, since it plays well to the groups he speaks to, but it makes him look like an idiot to more sane people. Of course "going in and taking the oil" plays well with the groups he's speaking to. While all this sounds insane, it's just what a lot of people want to hear. Obama said a lot of things people wanted to hear but then did a 180 after winning. So maybe Trump isn't as insane as a lot of the left would like to think.

The funniest part, to me, is the 2 birth announcements in Hawaiian newspapers. Sure, there's the part where the GOP governor vouched for the birth certificate (the long form, which cannot be released by law), the interviews with the staffer who personally verified it, etc., but the newspaper announcements of his birth are the icing on the cake for me.

Agreed, rah, that it's intelligent politics for Obama to give the birthers some rope. Trump probably isn't "insane" in a clinical sense. He's probably at least a little bit unhinged, given his track record. But the stuff coming out of his mouth right now is politically-calculated word salad. It's not about his beliefs, but the crowd he's courting.

Not to release it again, after they released it in 2008...

I was trying to think of an appropriate analogy and then came across Krauthammers latest statements wherein he compares Trump to Sharpton as unserious candidates who claim they were in it to force serious dialogue on the issues.

I think the analogy fails in that while both are joke candidates Sharpton didn't make his entire party look like idiots while Trump does.

It's a question of whether or not the party has embraced its fringe. The Dems, whatever you want to say about them (and I can say much, little of it good), have for some time now gone out of their way to not embrace their fringe (indeed, "the base" typically feels that it's being **** upon). The GOP, on the other hand, appears to have gone the full ****** (see also: Newt and his atheist islamists).

Yeah, it's really tough to be a repug these days. I'd like to think i'm sane, but every time I claim to be a repug, I seem to question that with everything else I see the party stepping up for.
I guess I may have to turn inde, since the dems are not an option to me.

I don't know if I necessarily agree about embracement of the fringe. Latest news indicates Jan Brewer (No friend of the administration) vetoed a birther bill for Arizona presidential candidates.

I don't want anything to do with the fringe. At least in 2008 when they were making noise the party nominated someone that wasn't from the fringe. Hopefully that type of sanity will prevail in the future, but looking at everything going on, you really have to wonder.

Birthers are basically truthers except they vote for the other party. Can we move on already?

I'm not quite ready to concede government to the dems yet. I have to hold up some reasonable hope that the repugs aren't beyond saving.
