Because I'm a Westerner and don't care about third world people? Just sayin.

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

Don't you claim to be a Christian? What happened to that whole Golden Rule business? Treat other people they way you want to be treated?

He is from Eastern Europe. Most people over there are a bit funny in the head. As long as they stay there, no problem. Unfortunately they are allowed to travel to Western Europe these days ...

**** yes we can. Democracy is an instrumental good - it's good because it generally leads to good outcomes. When it leads to bad outcomes (Hitler, the US Senate) it should be avoided.

No, democracy is "good" despite its constant shortcomings in the sense that everything else is even worse, for the most part.

With that said, it should be good enough that we're no longer actively pushing for the dictators the way we used to. Sure, it'd be nice if we could cheer for democratic uprisings, but if they fail we're going to be in an impossible position with the existing regime. Occasionally mumbling about human rights is lame, but it's all that's practical for a state that has to maintain diplomatic relations with the world. Cutting all ties with Russia, China, and large chunks of the Middle East and Africa just isn't going to fly, obviously.

It has spread to Yemen now.

Hitler was not democratically elected. Check your facts before you jump on the bandwagon.

Murdering lots of innocent people usually qualifies as bad. Don't pull the moral relativist rhetoric out of your ass please.

I'm not a moral relativist. The point is that Kuciwalker seems to think that democracy is only okay as long as the majority is controlled by a minority or some external force. I wouldn't agree with the external force part.

                                What are you talking about?

The US gave $150 million in military aid to Yemen last year and expectations are that another $250 million would be spent this year.

                                President Saleh is hardly anti-American.
