No, democracy is "good" despite its constant shortcomings in the sense that everything else is even worse, for the most part.
With that said, it should be good enough that we're no longer actively pushing for the dictators the way we used to. Sure, it'd be nice if we could cheer for democratic uprisings, but if they fail we're going to be in an impossible position with the existing regime. Occasionally mumbling about human rights is lame, but it's all that's practical for a state that has to maintain diplomatic relations with the world. Cutting all ties with Russia, China, and large chunks of the Middle East and Africa just isn't going to fly, obviously.Comment
