    • Okay.

What god do I pray to? The christian one? How about Zeus or Odin?

What is the particular ritual involved? I wouldn't want to screw it up and have my pleas go unanswered.

Maybe I should pray to Joe Pesci?

        • If I was in a desperate situation and somehow managed to get out of it?

Why would I thank a god (yet to be determined)?

            • Silly response Wezil.

If I was an atheist and suddenly decided I wanted to investigate theism but had no clue what would interest me, I wouldn't pick (active) gods which no one followed any more with the 'thinking' that if they were active they wouldn't put up with not being followed.

I would look at the major religions: Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, ... at least to begin with. I know people who have done a full religion search that way. If nothing seems correct to you, than go on into other things ... you would have a hard time with Zeus or Odin and there are no 'real' followers anymore.

gribber, your question is more complicated (and honest)

Honestly, my answer would be 'pull on your soul' or 'history'. There very well might be better answers, those are the ones that came to mind quickly.

I included christianity in my list Jon.

Why dismiss the old gods so easily Jon? I'd be willing to bet their adherents were at least (if not more) ardent in their beliefs than you are.

How about your repeated and mind numbing avoidances of any rational discussion of this subject?

You are like the little school boy at the football match of his favorite team throwing junk and booing the other team and calling out they are cheating no matter what is actually going on the field.

Because it is black and white! In fact to admit otherwise would be to admit your own doubts in his existence - do you doubt his existence? Is that why you refuse to answer us about the proof of his existence?
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

I'm honestly not dodging the question. I'm an unclear after so many disjointed posts what the actual question is (hence my re-statement a few posts back).

No, I would not pray to some god when in a bad situation.

If I wouldn't pray to one I would see no need to give thanks to one.
