    Yes, completely wrong.

Turns out the Avon river in Stratford is a tributary to the Thames river in London.

Thank you for that important clarification.

That's very harsh on Mr Speer there, PH.

I doubt you would be able to describe many geographical features of Philadelphia off the top of your head.

There. I said it. I stood up for Albie.

I wasn't aware New York was in Canada.

At least the yanks named it New York...Ontario just named it "York"

And what is it called now? They ditched the York altogether.

              Growth.

Also, maybe I wasn't wrong after all.

1832 - Thomas Mercer Jones, an agent of the Canada Company, names the village "Stratford" and renames the portion of the Thames River running through it "The Avon River."

Technically, you are right. The Avon river used to be known as the "Little Thames", but was often considered part of the "Thames" back then.

In the past survival would have advantaged samurai warriors over digital concert viewers(strenuously), but since the US is guaranteeing their survival that isn't happening. Same as Europe going from Imperial butchers to pussies basically.

Do Japanese people even commit seppuku any more when they have been shamed or their honor has been besmirched?

                      Rarely. It's such a shame, isn't it?

Am I the only one who thinks Japan has undergone possibly the greatest cultural transformation to ever occur in a mere 60 years? Or even before that, the Japan that Commodore Perry landed in is like a whole world removed from today's Japan.

Japan is like that Seinfeld episode where George gives up on sex.

Or maybe more like that Family Guy short where Peter and Quagmire swear off women to become rich but with bizarre sexual habits with inanimate objects.

                            I watch too much TV.

I thought Japan stil had a relatively high suicide rate

Perhaps thats more to do with the 30 year old virgin situation than the honourable death one

Japan has a healthy suicide rate for a country on the fast track to the World of Tomorrow!
