Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, whatever that O! O! O! stuff is that Thoth likes, emo crap, satanist stuff, I don't know.

The point is I would be wrong! It's not that you would agree with me Wow. My point is I would be demonstrating ****ing close-mindedness and I would be in the wrong. But you and everyone else here is doing the exact same thing.

Everyone but freaking Slowwhand, oddly enough. He gave it a chance and admitted that there's decent rap. Like really? Sloww did! Sloww! You're all more close-minded than a Texan who served in the Vietnam War.

What in the world is this?

I could call techno inferior because, besides it spawning Lady Gaga
Did you just call Lady Gaga a 'techno' artist? I don't like techno either, but Lady Gaga ain't that.

Shut up Imran. Your disbelief is only proving my point. I would be wrong if I had said such ignorant stuff, right? Well all of you are equally as wrong with this instant dismissal of rap calling it **** without having actually taken an honest listening; an honest listening to good stuff, not whatever dumbasses listen to.

        • Heavy metal and punk rock are two entirely different things--much like John Fogerty bears no resemblance whatever to Jim Morrison aside from both of them liking the guitar. "Heavy Metal Punk Rock" makes about as much sense as "Gangsta Funk" or "Disco Jazz." Stop using the phrase.

Personally, I think the old bluesmen were pretty awesome and what little rap I've bothered to listen to has been annoying garbage. Clearly, I only hate black people born since 1970.

These bands have no punk rock in them. Nirvana isn't metal (grunge = metal ) and while Marilyn Manson & Nine Inch Nails are considered Industrial Metal (a mix of Industrial Rock and Metal).

I mean if you can't even get genres even close to right, what good are you?

So everyone here has said rap sucks uniquivocally aside from Slowwhand? Proof please.

You're right, our clinging to preconceived notions makes us dumb. Dumber than a black lady who supports seven kids with food stamps.

                  Gangsta Funk... you mean G-Funk?

                  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-funk

Nate Dogg, Warren G, Snoop, etc.?

hell Nate Dogg had a song called G-Funk

                  Disco Jazz? Like Dazz?

And some greats like Roy Ayers could be considered Jazz-Disco fusion.

Well, it depends in some cases.

Nirvana is grunge and grunge was influenced by punk/post-punk/heavy metal...

But yes, it's not heavy metal or punk.

                      • Huh. Okay, I stand corrected. People have apparently done some highly unusual genre fusion. Doesn't change the fact that Kurt Cobain was neither Heavy Metal nor Punk Rock, but okay.

                        • See there is implicit racism all over this site. Why the **** you think every poster we've had who were open about themselves being Black (except for Bunnygrrl) has left in a rage calling people here racist? El did it, that guy who was a Naval officer did it, Carter did it.

Compare what I said to the Al bit I quoted; scorning prejudice in others by saying "this dumb**** Texan, who obviously is by definition a narrowminded jackass, agrees with me" doesn't make sense. Okay, so that wasn't my best rhetoric.

It's just hilarious how quick and easy that was. You really never heard of Gangsta Funk? I mean Snoop Dogg is famous as ****.

I can forgive you for not knowing about Brick or Roy Ayers though but in the late 70's there were a lot of jazz-disco fusion groups.

Alby is hardly the only one on Apolyton with anti-Texas prejudice.
