  • A good producer does more than just keep the same instrumental. I've been posting original and sampled rap song combos in the music thread. Check this one. See how the producer flipped the Aretha Franklin sample:

The producer actually did something with it. There is a hint of One Step Ahead but it's a new musical construction. It's a revitalization of a decades old song and an introduction to a new audience. Hip Hop producers should be praised for giving new life to old classics.

What the **** is weak? You couldn't even have listened to either of them in 2 minutes. Stop being a ****ing *******, Asher, and learn something.

Be informed before you start trashing an entire genre of music.

          • Apolyton is so bizarre. This anti-rap stuff is crazy. I've never seen anyone but old people be so fundamentally opposed to the entire genre. Even the whitest most rock-obsessed person usually likes a couple songs or something!

I hope you all know that I got Sloww to admit some appreciation for rap... SLOWW! A Texan in his late 50's! My 50+ year old mother liked Will Smith songs.

What does that say about all of you? What does it say about your open-mindedness?

I'm an "old white guy" but I can handle a rap song or two before I reach for a gun.

Open-minded means we listen. I've heard plenty of rap. The fact that I can actively dismiss 99% of it as crap makes me discerning, not close-minded.

Sorry, I already listened to the last song you posted by Mr. Def.

Quite frankly it wasn't very good. Another one and I'd have to find that gun I mentioned.
