Cavebear was also a member. I can't remember all. I remember certain things better than I remember members. Like you with Trade and Boann for exploration. I remember in one game having a unit fortified on a mountain and someone wasting unit after unit attacking me.

No draw here? WTF are you doing here then? Go back to CFC where you think it's so golden, Aeson. I like you and all, but you're talking like an idiot.
Yes, there's no draw here Sloww. And I'm pretty sure Civ III was the time Poly saw the most traffic in it's existence. Just because you didn't like the game doesn't change that.

If I was still playing games, I'd be posting at CFC about Civ 5 (and would have about Civ 4 pretty quick too)... because Poly just isn't the place for that sort of thing anymore. Post a well thought-out strategy article about the newest game and you'll likely just get dumbass **** like Eyes attacking everyone in the thread for 20 pages. There's no point because the moderators don't care to create an environment where on-topic discussions can really flourish. The best thing that Poly has to offer now are things like... Wiglaf. And as great as Wiglaf is, no one goes searching for Wiglaf unless someone has already experienced Wiglaf. (I'M NOT TALKING SEXUALLY! ) So it's only a draw to people who don't need to be drawn cause they're already here.

Poly's "civilization 5" ranking is somewhere down in the 70-80 range on Google last I checked. How's that going to get any traffic? There's a ****ing multi-level marketing FORM PAGE in the top 10. (Damn, I should have posted that one. :missedtheboat: ) Poly's activity in the Civ 5 forums is barely better than WPC's... the number of threads and posts are eerily similar. That's how far Poly has fallen. You could go out, write a page with "civilization 5" on it 300 times, and post it... and Google would think it's more relevant than this site. And it might even be right... I haven't checked out the leet strats that MLM guy is selling, but we don't even have a strategy forum.

If it takes 2 months to swap a simple image file, it's a wonder anything else has been done on this site.
Well, we liked the concept and want indeed to use it. We need now need a high quality / resolution of this new logo. If someone can help us to create it, then that would be great.

Our designer just got twin daughters and isn't able to do it.

I totally agree. Dumb ass comments in in the on-topic section are destructive. I think the on-topic does need stricter moderation to stay on the subject of how to improve ones Civ gaming experience. People will be disinclined to come back if confronted with drivel when they are looking for strategy or modding advice.

The off topic is the place for dumb ass comments and spam, NOT the on-topic.
(I do try my best not to make dumb arsed spam in the on-topic, really).

BTW Aeson, I hope you continue contributing to strategy. I have learnt much from your posts over the years.

More sites need to link to our exclusive civ5 material.
Google bases it's site-ranking on the number of sites to link to you.

Part of the problem is that we lost about 50% of our links during the merger.
That was a hard decision, but it had to be made one day. Our old server and legacy was way to expensive, both in time and in money, to maintain. I personally hoped that our exclusive content both before and after civ5's release would have resulted in more sites linking to us. Unfortunately a lot wasn't picked up. But what's important there is that things don't go over night. It's a matter of time.

Could you contact these other sites to ask them if they wish to link up again?

It also occurs to me that I have never (in the 10 years I have been here) received an email from Apolyton. (Some other sites spam me sometimes). You have 100,000 registered members and thus presumably 100,000 email adresses in your database (some of which would now be no longer used I presume). Many of them appear not to have visited recently. Could the lot be emailed cheaply including perhaps a reminder of their username and password to encourage them to come back?

Yeah, that happens... but you haven't really put in the effort to get those links back. You should have somebody tasked to go out and contact the other sites, and also actively post links on other sites. While there is now far more content, it's kind of wasted if you can't get links to it.
                        Keep on Civin'

Care to back that up moron? Why don't you go count how many threads I posted in the on topic Civ forums in the past 5 years? Furthermore, why don't you go count how many of those threads were my own? While we're at it, why don't you go find the topics I posted in that involved strategy since Civ2? There's a reason why you're living in a third world country growing tomatoes now, so just stick to that. Fact is that Civ5 is already a dead game. The Civ5 ladder hasn't had a post on the website in 3 days and there's about 1 or 2 games played per day on it by the same people. The Civ4 MP days are over as well. Civ as a franchise is in trouble. This may very well be the last Civ ever made.

Last Civ ever made? I wouldn't bet on that. I haven't played Civ5, since all the previews made it sound bad, but it takes more than one crummy game to kill a legendary franchise.

Civ4 was pretty bad too. I've never seen it this bad though. Maybe since Civ3 when no MP was shipped at all? I'm not sure what is worse though. I guess there will always be diehards. Thing is that they keep taking more and more out of the game and putting nothing back in. I'm not sure how they can continue this trend before they have nothing left. I like the idea that they got rid of stacked combat and removed many of the limiting factors in the game on players such as the ridiculous maintenance system from Civ4, but they took so much out of the game that the game grinds into a slugfest that no one can seem to win and so it comes down to points. Civ4 was like that too, but not to this extent. Civ really fell when Brian Reynolds left. He was the guy that really made Civ.
