Why would you watch TV if you were interested in learning anything?Originally posted by Asher View PostThe problem is patently obvious: When America gets its news only from opinionated blowhards, you get a polarized and dysfunctional system. Like you have now.
What TV show can Americans go to for unopinionated news?

Uh, you can go to the regular news lineup? Most stories are fairly unopinionated. There's always going to be some slant in controversial stories but for the most part "Obama is in Asia this week and is discussing a possible Indian Security Council seat" is going to sound the same on every channel. They might interview a few experts who give opinions though.Originally posted by Asher View PostThe problem is patently obvious: When America gets its news only from opinionated blowhards, you get a polarized and dysfunctional system. Just...no.
The local affiliate newstations? Have you EVER even watched one?
Just as I was reading this, FOX News aired a teaser for their 11pm newscast (Seattle): "A Tacoma woman is attacked by a bear...and the bear is still on the loose. What can you do to stay safe? Find out at 11"
And that's the worthless part. It's meaningless. There's always going to be some slant in controversial stories but for the most part "Obama is in Asia this week and is discussing a possible Indian Security Council seat" is going to sound the same on every channel.
What about the coverage about the financial mess? On the local TV networks it's "people are unemployed, wah wah" and that's about as deep as they go. To go any deeper, Americans need to turn to blowhard talking heads. It's ridiculous."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I think the Daily Show adequately points out the problem with FOX news' "journalism."
Fox and Friends: "Obama's trip to India is a slap in the face of unemployed Americans."
Fox News Anchor 1 hour later: "In today's news, some people are saying that Obama's trip to India is a slap in the face of unemployed Americans."“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
"Capitalism ho!"

If you don't like it, watch your high quality local network news and hear about bears terrorizing women and children.
