Alpert, you might have to face that the OCS just isn't for you. You really need a backup plan. And with people bagging their own groceries now, there might not be any jobs left for you recession or not.

FFS, precisely what chains of events led someone who doesn't have osteogenesis imperfecta to fracture each separate tibia (whether on separate occasions or simultaneously) on the first try and then to plummet almost two stories on the second try? This can't be anywhere near normal.

The first time I went, we had a prior enlisted Staff Sergeant. He was a scout sniper with multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sent home after a few weeks with fractures in his foot. I'm sorry but if a god damn scout sniper had his body break down what does that mean? Marine OCS can destroy your body flat-out.
The combination of the beating your body takes and the lack of sleep does not bode well for a lot of people over a long 10-weeks."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

I don't think any of you appreciate just how much of a beating your body takes at Marine Corps OCS.
And yet there are plenty of uber-athletic dynamos beating down the door who are more than capable of taking that beating without injury on the first try or at worst the second try. It wasn't all that hard for me to realize and accept that my spirit was willing but my flesh was weak for reasons not under my control, but to each his own I guess. If you don't have a whole hell of a lot else going on, I say have at it, keep trying over and over until you hit the Marines' age ceiling of 28, at which point your critical window of opportunity for both that and every civilan career worth a damn will have already passed.

My mistake was asking the Corpsman about the pain I was experiencing when I would march. He said I better take you to medical and from that point on, it was out of my hands. I had no idea it was going to be that bad. I just figured he would give me some Motrin and show me a shin stretch or something.
If I had known, I would have kept quiet and kept going until my shins snapped in half
That's the plan for next time... don't go to the medical staff for anything. Six weeks should be a breeze though for my body. Twice though it's been at the 7 week mark that problems have arisen."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

I would think my back issues would give you pause for concern on what can happen if you cause a permanent injury to yourself. Not only will you not be a marine, but you'll find even daily tasks difficult. Surely there are better routes than the marines? Is that really your trump card for your future?
