All I know of you is your posts here, including your resume and online degree. How can I comment on something I don't know about?

And yet here you are commenting. You seem to be a never ending bastion of advice and opinion, yet you reveal nothing about yourself other than to perhaps show your degree at Columbia in your sig...which is meaningless in my eyes. You posted this in my sterilization thread:

Drix, judging from your posts on this forum, you are not very intelligent.
You have posted similar things as this, yet you were too stupid to realize that I was only playing with all of you. Do you see my "should we invade Mexico?" topic? Another topic for my amusement. In fact, I successfully started a half hour debate in one of my marketing courses pitting half the class against each other over the merits of invading Mexico. If I can do that in real life, what makes you think you ever even had anything going for you on a forum? You weren't able to see beyond what was in front of you and in the end you came off looking like a fool. You assumed too much, and now you are incredibly presumptuous to think you can offer me advice on my life. I'll give you credit that you had some good advice on my resume, but that's all.

Actually, I posted awhile ago that you were likely ****ing with all of us and that it was a silly thing to do for someone who wants to work in US intelligence. Mostly because they aren't very clever. You post like a spoiled teenager who thinks he knows everything but is obviously not well educated or very mature. Seriously, do you really think it takes much thought to go around calling people socialist?

But as I said, I am only going by your posts here. Maybe you are a completely different person. How can I know? However, that you choose to post this way here does reveal some facts about your personality.

If you want people here to think differently of you, maybe you should post more like yourself. Also, feel free to post your long list of accomplishments, if you need the validation.

No you didn't, you posted that I should be worried about what I'm posting on here if I'm going to try and join US intelligence, which is not what I'm trying to join anyway and I've told you that before. You say I'm not very well educated, but yet again I don't really see much for you to stand on here. As for the mature part, why would I ever try to be mature on a game forum? Honestly, if you come on here for some sort of intellectual discussion or personal validation then I don't know what to say about you. For me, it's purely entertainment, and I don't think you can really call the antics of many of the posters on here "mature."

Also, where have I shown a desire for people to think differently of me? I've been on this site since 1999 and I don't think I ever once came on here and tried to gain people's respect. Sorry, but you're just some guy who I'll never meet and honestly, there is nothing in your posts that is even remotely impressive to me. Asher and KH come off as far more interesting to me than you do, and I have never once felt the need to gain their respect. The reality is that I am indeed very different in real life, but that is also irrelevant. At the end of the day, you ****ed up. You overreached because you made too many assumptions about me and you overestimated your own standing.

The fact is that everyone on this forum would probably be horrified if people saw their posts on here, myself included. That's why we're here in the first place. I would be very worried if someone like MOBIUS really thinks the things he does in real life and actually acts the same way off the computer. In the end, it's just entertainment. When I get busier again I'll disappear again just as I always have over the years. To be honest, I'd much rather be doing better things with my time.

Yes, I've said that as well.

Then why are you taking this so seriously?

Probably all your posts about how people here are misjudging your intelligence and this sad attempt to make me think that you aren't like your posts here.

Again, I've just tried to give you advice based on what I know of you. You have lofty goals and it just seems from my perspective that you are not going in the right direction to achieve them. You are far too sensitive about this.

I already told you at the end of the day that's irrelevant anyway. As far as why we're even still going on this conversation, welcome to my entertainment. If you didn't respond I wouldn't even be on this site. You make my existence on here possible. Thanks.

Drix, don't listen to DaShi... I've met people with multiple degrees who are shut-ins and live with their parents still... keep the dream alive!

Is it really that strange for me to pursue a long term higher education goal while enjoying my career in IT Security? Don't be so envious of my ambitions that far exceed your own. You should stick to growing tomatoes in your adopted third world country since you obviously couldn't handle a normal life.

You want a PhD just to have a PhD?

If you actually cared about science and research, you would get an IT/tech job for a lab/etc and would (if you were good) get paid more and do more for science/research than the young PhD students. If you wanted more involvement in the science side, that would be available to you (although that would require a lot more work, but if you want a science PhD you are already planning to do the work?), as you could go to the science talks/etc.

Actually that's not a bad idea. The reason I want to get the PhD isn't for the sake of getting a PhD. I've always been interested in genetic research, and I like challenges. The only reason I didn't go the science route in the first place is because I come from a family that doesn't value science. Science? How do you make money with that they say. Unfortunately I went along with it early on and when I wanted to switch I didn't have the ability to do so anyway. I like computers and it's a much faster route than getting the PhD that can make a lot of money and fund what I really want to do. Also, I don't plan on retiring ever so my time line is probably a bit different from most people's. I'm not someone that wakes up in the morning for the sake of waking up. I have to have something big to work towards on a daily basis or I don't see much point in life.

...the contents of a thread by not having unhelpful titles help you avoid crapfests like this? Hell yes

Not strange at all... I'm just being supportive here. And yes, I couldn't handle a normal life, it's true. Good luck on your own.
