I'm not sure why you should give financial aid to people to go to college just because they're poor. Furthermore, you can fix the whole system just by getting rid of useless liberal arts degrees. Then there won't even be a need for him to go to college and he can just make it on his own merits. College is nothing more than a tax to support those who would otherwise be useless to society. i.e. Professors who teach liberal arts courses. Do you really need a degree in business to go be a salesman? Do you even really need a degree in accounting to go be an accountant? How much good does a degree in finance really do? The reality is you can learn all the skills you need faster and more efficiently from the job you are doing. Get rid of the liberal arts degrees, and you will remove a huge burden from the poor and middle class. Then significantly increase the standards for university work and only allow the best to become professors. This will result in more useful degrees, less student debt, more disposable household income, less taxation, less wasted years, and the list just goes on and on.
