Thoughts on the future: Population, IQ, and Sterilization

Al, if population can expand endlessly with no adverse results, then explain to me why the nations with the highest birthrates tend to be some of the poorest and most hungry nations in the world, and then explain to me why reducing the birth rate would not help reduce that trend.

US birthrates in the 19th century were comparable to any 3rd world country's today. Obviously, there is a trend of having fewer children as the country develops but I think you're mistaking an effect for a cause. With industrialization and urbanization, there is no longer the incentive to produce a lot of children to work in the fields and the productive capacity of children is therefore reduced which discourages having a lot of children. Furthermore, the increase in educational services provided to the community and the fact that they are mandated by law further reduces children's productive capacity. Furthermore, going to school tends to delay child-bearing and when a sizable minority attend college, the average age of first child is pushed well into the late 20's as a result.

These are all effects, not causes. They just happen to be effects that enhance the overrall trend.

I don't need to do research to know that there is some number less than infinity that is the absolute population cap. I don't have clue what that number is, of course, and neither does anyone else here, but it obviously exists. Simple logic dictates that.

I also know, as does everyone else here, that in some areas of the world, there are people dying due to lack of available food and water, and that many of those places STILL sport some of the highest birthrates on the planet. At best that's a combination of coincidence and stupidity; more likely, high birthrates correlate with poverty and starvation.

Yeah, that OP is pretty kooky. In an attempt to bring this thread back to rationality, my position on this subject has always been that a means to controlling poverty and hunger in the 3rd World is to decrease the birth rate, achieved through birth control and education.

That is an interesting point you make C0ckney. I think you may have stumbled on to something significant here. If we look at the structure of Obamacare and the over all strategy to redistribute wealth to the undesirables, then there is a clear motive and agenda to sterilize the intelligent of America. Socialism works best when people are ignorant, and ignorant people tend to have lower intelligence levels. That's not to say that you can't have ignorant intelligent people, but I digress. The point is that in order for socialism to work, you must reduce the number of intelligent people in the country. Obamacare I believe is simply the first stage of a larger agenda to sterilize those who could be a threat to the new socialist state.
