  • Can we just have a Sick People Awareness Month?

I suggested this to a friend of mine after pointing out that we have an Awareness Month for every sob story despite only having 12 months in a year and she told me "we should make one for you, we'll call it Quit Being an Ass month". Regardless, as an example, October is:

Filipino American History Month, National Arts and Humanities Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, LGBT History Month, National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Fair Trade Month, and Dwarfism Awareness Month.

    November is:
American History Month, Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, COPD Awareness Month, Novel Writing Month, Alzheimer Awareness Month, Diabetes Month, Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Homeless Youth Awareness Month, Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis Awareness Month, and Pomegranate Month.

    (info lifted from Wikipedia)

Can we just have a Sick People Awareness Month? I feel like these are too many diseases for people to be aware of, even without crap like Dwarfism Awareness Month. What's that about, making sure you don't accidentally kick them in the face on the subway?
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

You are a socialist. I believe that each disease or cause should compete for awareness. For example, I know nothing about dwarfism awareness month because it is unsuccessfully marketed. However, nearly everyone knows about Black History month because of its effective educational campaign. This is competition at its purest.

Oh but I'm so broken up over this. Really, awareness months are a big deal.

It'd take a damned sight more than a month in your case.

But then you'd have to make it once a decade.

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that October is Internet Douchebag Awareness month.
