a) Drinking as much as I have has very little impact on my ability to reason. The physical and emotional effects come first. Only after a large number of drinks does reasoning become difficult.

b) I see no reason to "dig" Kuci out. In general, I think that these moral "dilemmas" which attempt to generate visceral dislike for utilitarian/consequentialist morality are based around the average person's experience with informational asymmetery....

Each individual's moral value is equal. But in addition to the interest we have in someone's life for its own sake, we have an interest in how they can help others' lives.

It's not that, KH. It's the philosophical conclusions that follow from it... that men are not necessarily equal and that a man's worth is determined by what he provides society.

That's not a visceral dislike. That's a breaking away from the very foundations of liberalism and, I suspect, liberal economics itself (although I have never taken an economics history course so I'm not positive on the evolution of liberal economics).
