What happened in the 1930's? What revolution? Are you talking about your support for Nazism again?

I'm talking about membership in the Communist Party multiplying and union leaders leading revolts that had to be broken up by the national guard. But if the crisis gets real bad, this time, it'll be worse. The people of the 1920's and 1930's were accustomed to poverty and hardship, they were a tough lot. Americans these days have seen nothing but prosperity for the last 70 years and are weak from the forces of consumerism and the advancement of material 'comforts.' They'll be much more likely to revolt. Several countries in the 1930s had revolts (and this was before the Soviet Union provided a very successful counter-example to liberalism), and the ones that were economically f**ked before the Depression, such as Italy, Spain, and Portugal, were on the verge of socialist and anarchist revolts. But who knows where the Spain's, Portugal's, and Greece's of the world are heading with this crisis. I don't think it's to the right.

And again, I DO NOT buy into the Nazi ideology. I don't believe in a scientific, racial hierarchy and I'm not anti-semitic. I support Israel for Pete's sake.

        • The OTers are revolting! Citizens request new government.
Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

The financial crisis is just beginning, and that is what ultimately can cause the downfall of the liberal state and the rise of some elements that are subversive to humanity. People get desperate during economic crises, and sometimes the impoverished masses cannot resist the allure of socialism. The liberal state with its poor economic management was unable to stop the rise of socialism and anarchism in Italy, Portugal, and Spain (heck, during the revolution Barcelona went anarchist for a little while). Luckily, civilization was saved in these places by the rise of more effective governments that restored order.

That's pretty much a response to every curtis post so far.
