  • They even have minimum wages to protect the weak
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

      • Unfortunatedly, that minimum wage seems to be what I got back in the mid 70'es sorting return bottles at the local supermarket (13-14 yearish)

        • So not $9.40/hr then (UK's minimum wage at £5.93/hr)?

I think that is a factually accurate statement.

              • Of course, when we actually have a self-made, up-from-his-bootstraps President, everyone accuses him of being a socialist.

Obama is hardly "self-made." He's no Bill Clinton.

They lost the argument to people who claimed that being critical of the government was the highest form of patriotism.

When his governing mantra seems to be "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"...

Where do you people come up with this stuff? If you think this is socialism, wait until you see what's around the corner in the next decade.

I couldn't help but notice your sig. You do realize that if Gerald Ford (and especially Nixon) were in politics today they would probably be considered socialist Democrats these days, don't you? If you want an anti-big government quote, why not go with Reagan or one of the Bush's?

The general thrust of this argument is, "You think Obama is bad? Wait, it gets WORSE!" I don't think Democrats would get very far with this rhetoric.

                            • Reading the OP. Have trouble taking this serious. I mean, OBAMA a SOCIALIST? He's more like centre-right, in some issues centre-left.

I'm not talking about Democrats. I'm talking about the serious possibility of revolution around the corner. It happened in the 1930's so I don't see why it won't be a risk again in the 2010's. It's something we must be prepared to fight using whatever methods it takes to get the job done.
