I, for one, congratulate AAHZ on reaping the rewards of his entry into semi-mainstream society. After all, you do generally have to hold a job for at least a year before you get your two weeks.

Enjoy your fleeting free time, young padewan.

What's the point of a vacation if you just spend it on your couch?

I started my first job out of uni with more than two weeks.

I'm up to four already, which I think is pretty good for 26.

Plus 10 paid personal days per year (sick days/**** this im going to the mountains days/appointment days/etc).

I don't think people realize, you can ask for more than they offer you when you get job offers. You don't need to blindly accept.

Why I would never work in North America

I don't think I've ever had any less than 5 weeks holidays in my entire life. The best I've managed so far is 37 days holiday a year. Plus I've never worked anywhere where they have a limit on the amount of days you can have sick and still be paid.

The crazy thing is though, that the British are deemed the hard workers of Europe in terms of time spent in the office - I'm seriously considering learning German and moving there for their holidays. Or Finnish!
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Boasting about having a two week paid holiday, especially that you're not even going to do anything with it, is just, well, I don't want to hurt your feelings, AAHZ, so yaaay for you...

i've got two weeks out of the gate, plus twenty days of sick/personal time. not bad for an entry level position.
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

You may have more vacation, but after you factor in the insane taxes over there you may as well just take unpaid time off in North America and get the same take-home income.

What insane taxes? You mean the ones where we don't have to worry about paying insane amounts for healthcare or Oerdin's ludicrous HOA costs, for example? Or that nothing adds up to a round number in most US states cos they add a whole bunch of taxes on top of what you pay for stuff...?

Either way, I'd prefer all my time off compared to being shackled to some characterless cubicle farm...

                            I'm pretty standard.
I've been here over 10 years so I get
                            20 vacation days
                            10 personal days
                            10 holiday days or so

                            And long term illness allowance.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

What is a personal day? You get to sit in the corner with a box of kleenex...?

                              Doctor's appointments etc?

Most white collar people have their health care paid for by their employer. Or at least the good ones do.

Fairly certain the UK has a higher tax burden than the US + Canada.
