That's the other point... student athletes from magnet schools are even better. I'm sure the kids on TJ's sports teams are probably as smart as the computer nerds. They're probably even better to be academically successful while taking out so much after-school and before-school time for practice.

All of the football/basketball players I knew from high school I see bartending, selling cars, or "managing" at grocery stores.

Why is that funny, HC? They have to balance school and sports. That takes more than just a regular student. An all-A's student athlete is a hell of an intelligent person. A student athlete who gets all A's is better than a student who gets all A's but does nothing.

Asher, what does the 'average' non-athlete graduate from your high school do now? Are the athletes doing worse than the average kids? And did you go to a local public school or a college preparatory academic school?

And I don't know... to be the general manager of a supermarket at 27 isn't bad at all. You usually see guys in their 40's doing jobs like that. And sales jobs, if you're good at them, can make a lot of money.

I'm doing better than they are and I'm ****ing 17

I hope I get hired back at my job next summer....fingers crossed...But I think I did a good job with the work they assigned me, AND I'M THE ONLY ONE IN THE COMPANY WHO KNOWS HOW TO WRITE IN THE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE I USED. So basically, **** yeah me

Apparently they hired me because I spend my time working on the school's intranet INSTEAD OF PLAYING SPORTS LIKE A JOCK.

Whatever, HC. Intelligence doesn't mean ****. That's why the 3.0 GPA kids who played college football have investment banking jobs and my 3.7 and perpetual dean's list appearances has gotten me nothing.

I made the mistake to think that school is for learning facts... no. It's for networking and you increase your ability to network by being high profile (in other words, cool).

The kids that play sports or organized college parties or whatever else that made them high profile... they're all in their last year of law school or working for Goldman Sachs. The guy like me who just went to class and worked 2 jobs and had better grades doesn't have ****.

I'm intelligent, (maybe) good-looking, fairly athletic, had good grades, etc. The world should be my oyster but I failed to appreciate the need to capitalize on my strengths in the social arena.

I've done less with more than anybody I know in every fathomable area... jobs, women, etc.

Don't believe these lies that the cool kids don't amount to anything. What it takes to be cool among 17 year olds or 21 year olds is the same things that it takes to be successful on the trading floor or in the courtroom.

Sweet ****ing Christ, can we have one goddamn thread on this mother****ing board that doesn't turn into Albie and HC whipping out their high school cocks without ever getting a goddamn clue how ****ing pathetic it is? And Alby, you're ****ing worse because you're OUT OF ****ING HIGH SCHOOL. Let it go. Let it the **** go.

Yes, they are doing worse than the "average" kids at my school. I went to my local public high school, but at the time (and I don't know if it still is) it was rated the best in the province. It had very high university acceptance rates, and the football/basketball teams did not. The other sports teams (volleyball, lacrosse, rugby) fared better for some reason. Probably because they're less mainstream.

The volleyball team, of course, had a lot of gays (who weren't out at the time, as usual). This means they're more intelligent than usual and more likely to attend university also.

Not general manager. I'm talking about assistant managing or managing a bakery, etc.

Hey I'm not the one that ever came on here blathering about how great my high school was when I was in high school. That's one thing I never did do. Kuci did it like crazy and HC does it all the time now. I'm the one that's trying to kick them down a notch and make them realize that their fancy pants high school doesn't mean ****.

This is part of the ****ing problem, Alby. Let it THE **** GO. Regardless who instigates it, you can't ****ing resist jumping in to talk about how comparatively great your high school is (which basically consists of tearing down TJ), or what you learned there or why you haven't translated that into life success. Just ****ing let it go. Once. That's all I ask.

Well Asher, I did very well in high school and college and have a degree but I'm not managing even a bakery. I used to manage a god damn food court for $13/hr.

I wish I had been working out and tried out for the football team or something and went to parties... Jesus I wish I could re-live college and do it over right instead of just working and doing schoolwork.

Grades get you nowhere in life.

I agree. My grades sucked because I focused my attention on learning useful things. But the paper and learning a relevant subject is useful.

You studied something useless then wasted years on being a ***** in the military. You can't complain about how your life has ended up.

I'm not even in the military! I wish I was in the military! I'm like a washed up ROTC cadet at this point twiddling my thumbs to finish my training.

And Finance and Economics isn't even useless! It usually gets you at least $45K at the entry-level... well, for everyone else but losers like me.

It is useless, as your job prospects show you.

I got well in excess of $45K straight out of college with my degree. This is because it is not useless.

It doesn't help that you went to Cathedral university or whatever.
