Most of you have been here a very long period of time, you know what's allowed and what isn't in terms of images.

ie. no porn. If you keep everything "safe for work" there'll be no issue.

If you blatantly post porn explicit images I will ban you for a very lengthy period of time, or permanently. Intent will also be taken into account.

I've banned Loinburger for 6 months for that Obama thread which some of you might have seen. It was a combination of being extremely explicit, and the manner in which he put it in a troll thread to entice as many viewers as possible.

My first Poly ban. As I've always said, I don't see the point of banning for a week or two. And it doesn't matter who you are. A few of you, eg. Drake and Oerdin, have pushed this limit before.

It's really mostly loinburger's facination and other people pick up on it when he's around.

I might reduce this. As it might seem a bit of a large increase from previous punishment policy.

But it would only be on the basis that if something like this happens again this is the kind of result you should expect.

If I may speak my mind: Banning for a week should be for minor offences. Banning for what loinburger did(granted I understand it correctly, never seen the thread or the content, don't want either really ), should be longer. But SIX months is pure craziness. I'd say max 1-2 months or permaban. And the last one should be for extreme cases.

My view: There are no minor bannable offences. JM occasionally gives someone a 24hr - let you sober up - ban, which is reasonable. But other than that?

A week's ban is more of a badge of honour than a punishment, it's almost aspirational. Just wait a week to moan about how unfair it was and how other people said something much worse and never got banned. BORING. No-one needs to hear another 500 post whinge thread about a banning for a minor offence, it's more disruptive than the original bad behaviour.

If someone deserves a ban, they deserve a proper ban. I didn't perma-delete the thread so mods and admins can still see the images, and so far the consensus seems to be he deserves it.
